Maria Karabela works as a Laboratory Teaching Staff(specialization of “Polymer Materials and Biomedical Technology”)at the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece. Her research interests focus on the fields of Polymers Chemistry and Technology (synthesis, characterization, study of physical / chemical / mechanical / thermal properties, etc. – Polymer recycling, modification and improvement of their final properties), synthesis and characterization / study properties of Composites and Advanced Materials as well as Biomaterials and Nanocomposites. Shereceived her Bachelor in Chemistry (2003), a Master’s Degree in Specialization (2005) and a PhD in Chemistry (2010) with an emphasis on Polymer Chemistry and Technology fromthe Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Shehas employed as a fixed term Lecturer in the Hellenic Army Academy(2011-2016: full time, 2016-2018: part time), as Laboratory Associate in theTechnological Educational Institute of Athens (2015-2016), and as a Chemist / Researcher (2011-2013) in a Dental Materials Industry S.A., (R&D & QA) in the field of dental polymer restoratives, impessives, bondings, etc.. She is co-author of over 23 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals,with more than 866 citations[h-index = 15 (search name: Karabela M.)] and 30 articles in conference proceedings.
