Dr. Gkreti Maria Manesi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Materials Science Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece. She received her Diploma in Materials Science Engineering (2015), her M.Sc. in Chemistry (2017) and Technology of Materials, and her Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Ioannina (2022). During her academic career, she has been a visiting researcher at internationally recognized institutions, including National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan (2018, 2019, four months in total), Texas A&M University in USA (2024, two months), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) Zurich (2025, two months) and the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory at Portugal (2025, 10 working shifts). Her research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of linear and non-linear block copolymers through living/controlled polymerizations, the study of the relationship between macromolecular architecture/structure/properties and the applications of polymers in nanotechnology. Her interests also include post-polymerization modification reactions, chemical recycling of polymers, and the structural characterization of soft materials using advanced electron microscopy techniques. The result of her research activity to date is the publication of 30 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals in the field of polymers and materials science. She is also a co-inventor of a pending U.S. patent application concerning innovative methods for controlling the orientation of block copolymer thin films for nanotechnology applications. She has participated in national and international scientific conferences (3 oral and 9 poster presentations) where she received one poster award (Best Poster Award from the RSC Publishing Group in Polymer Chemistry at the EPF European Polymer Congress) and one oral award (Best Oral Presentation Award at the ACS Fall 2025 Global Virtual Symposium: Next Generation Macromolecular Self-assembled Systems).
